DCPP Evacuation Assistance
About the Diablo Canyon Power Plant Evacuation Assistance Program
The Diablo Canyon Evacuation Assistance Program is for independent-living individuals in the Diablo Canyon Power Plant Emergency Planning Zone with disabilities or medical needs who would need assistance evacuating during a nuclear power plant emergency.
This program includes direct contact to individuals following a nuclear power plant emergency to identify if transportation assistance is needed. Once individuals needing transportation assistance is identify, resources will be dispatched and will transport individual to reception centers. Individuals on the list are still expected to make evacuation plans with family, friends and/or neighbors as resources will be scare and wait times for transportation may be lengthy.
Eligibility
Eligible individuals are those who live in the DCPP Emergency Planning Zone who are independent-living but unable to evacuate themselves following an emergency at the Diablo Canyon Power Plant due to a disability or medical need.
Note: This program is designed for emergencies at the Diablo Canyon Power Plant. While the list may be used in other types of emergencies, formal plans to provide transportation are not in place to do so. Individuals who live in jurisdictions outside the Emergency Planning Zone may register for the Disaster Help Roster.
Registration
Please do not wait until an evacuation order is issued. If you would like to added to the DCPP Evacuation Assistance List, please complete and mail in an Evacuation Assistance Card using the following steps:
Step 1: Obtain Evacuation Assistance Request Card |
This card is included in the annual DCPP Emergency Planning calendar that is mailed to residents located within the Emergency Planning Zone and Public Education Zone. You can also have one mailed to you by calling the Office of Emergency Services at (805) 781-5678. |
Step 2: Complete the Request Card |
Please complete all fields on the card. Missing information may hinder our ability to best assist you during an emergency. |
Step 3: Submit Request Card |

Step 4: Receive Confirmation |
Once your card has been received and processed, you will receive an informational packet and confirmation that you have been registered on the DCPP Evacuation Assistance List. |
Step 5: Stay on the List |
Fill out and return a Diablo Canyon Power Plant Evacuation Assistance Card each year to remain on the list. |
Step 6: Stay Informed |
Register for Reverse 9-1-1 emergency telephone notification system, and pay attention to wireless emergency alerts for local alerts and warnings sent by state and local public safety officials. |
If you urgently need information or transportation assistance during an emergency, call (805) 543-2444. This number is staffed during emergencies that could affect large numbers of people in the County.

In addition to having your basic survival supplies, an disaster supply kit should have items to meet your individual needs in various emergencies.
